Biography

Dr. Pumpalova is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Hematology/Oncology. She completed her Medical Degree at Weill Cornell Medical College, with a certificate in Global Health and her Internal Medicine and Global Health Residency at Stanford Hospital. As an Internal Medicine resident, she rotated at the Uganda Cancer Institute, where she provided direct patient care. She completed her Medical Oncology fellowship at Columbia University and is now a practicing GI Oncologist at Columbia. Her research focuses on improving cancer outcomes in low- and middle-income countries. Specifically, she is interested in developing cost-effective and feasible early detection and screening strategies for colorectal cancer in low- and middle-income countries. She has ongoing projects in South Africa and the Dominican Republic.
