USA: New York City, Stick2PrEP

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV is efficacious in reducing the acquisition of HIV. Despite the advent of PrEP and treatment as prevention, HIV incidence in the United States remained relatively stable, with around 38,000 new HIV infections nationally each year between 2014 and 2018. Achieving the population-level impact of PrEP requires the identification, linkage-to-care, and ongoing engagement of individuals throughout periods of high and low risk. Engaging individuals in regular care is vital for HIV risk assessments, regular HIV and sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and counseling as part of comprehensive HIV prevention services. This is critical if we hope to end the HIV epidemic.
