Third-Fourth Year Scholarly Projects in Global Health

Through the Scholarly Project Program (SPP), which is a required component of the core curriculum, VP&S students in their 3th or 4th year are able to dedicate 4 months, full time (or more upon request and approval) to explore an area of medical practice or research with the aim of creating new knowledge, in one of six tracks.

For their Scholarly Project, students must select a track, submit a research proposal, hold weekly meetings with their mentors, and submit a capstone paper and a poster by the end of their research period.

The 4 months (which are not necessarily consecutive) run between March of 2021 and March of 2022. Historically, over half the students will have started working on their SPP by the month of June prior to their graduation year.

Starting in January, 2021, Michael T. Yin, MD, MS, is the Global and Population Health Track Director.
