Biography

Tanya Murtha hails from a small town in Northern Minnesota, but has been a New England transplant for many years. She obtained her B.A. in Biology and English at Boston University and then earned a combined M.D./M.P.H. at Boston University Schools of Medicine and Public Health. She completed her pediatric residency at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital and stayed to continue her training as a fellow in pediatric critical care medicine and obtain a Master’s in Health Science in the Medical Education Pathway. She recently started at CHONY and splits her clinical time between the 9C PICU and the PICU at Harlem Hospital. Her research interests include medical education, improving communication of difficult news through simulation and interdisciplinary training, and debriefing after challenging clinical experiences.
